Length of the Patriots' first injury report for Week 8 is drawing concerns

The Patriots are coming off their sixth straight loss in Week 7 in embarrassing fashion. Although they weren't favored to beat the Jaguars by any measure, most believed it was a good opponent to get another win on the season, especially in London, only for New England to fall flat on their faces for the second year in as many years overseas.

It was a discouraging effort from the entire team, outside of Drake Maye, and hasn't brought on much optimism regarding the rest of the season.

Many fans and reporters are already looking ahead to the 2025 Draft and are focused on the Patriots getting a top-5 selection again since they desperately need the talent. It shows just how bad the team is playing this year, even with the low expectations most had coming into it.

The pessimism is now at the forefront as they prepare to matchup with the Jets again in Week 8 and despite New York dealing with several injuries, there isn't much hope that the Patriots will fare any better than they did last month on Thursday Night Football.

In fact, given how lengthy the injury report is, their chances look even slimmer now than they did in Week 3.

It's not quite the development they need, as they are already dealing with so much drama behind the scenes yet again. From calls to have Jerod Mayo fired mid-season and his entire staff eventually replaced, which were somewhat confirmed from the latest rumors to players airing their grievances to the media and Instagram, there's a lot of noise in Foxboro right now that they can't seem to get away from.

It would be great to see that put to the side for this week's game against the Jets, who are in a similarly bad state.

It would certainly boost morale and change the narrative surrounding the team, even if temporarily, and could provide a bit of hope that progression is, in fact, being made, even if it hasn't looked like it much over the past seven weeks.
