The New England Patriots struggled to find a starting quarterback after Tom Brady's departure. They've since found their future in Drake Maye, but between the two, Robert Kraft's squad saw five quarterbacks start. While four of the five didn't show any sustained success, Mac Jones' rookie year had fans believing.

After a rookie campaign during which Jones came second in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting and led New England to a 10-7 record, the Patriots' season came to a close with a 47-17 playoff loss against the Bills in the wildcard.

In the end, that would be the only playoff game Jones would play for the Patriots. He'd finish his New England career with a 20-25 regular season record and a 43.4% winning percentage across the regular season and playoffs.

He threw for just shy of 9,000 yards, while totaling 47 touchdowns and 37 interceptions. Now, Bleacher Report's Moe Moton suggests Jones could be on the move again.

Mac Jones could be on his way to the Steelers with Aaron Rodgers' future in question

As things stand, the Steelers quarterback situation is murky. The Steelers brought in Mike McCarthy for his track record of developing quarterbacks, but the current group doesn't have exceptional traits. Aaron Rodgers coming back isn't impossible, especially with his former coach returning to the sideline.

Mason Rudolph and Will Howard are the only rostered quarterbacks as things stand, and the draft is also a possibility. Ty Simpson is a first-round candidate, but The Athletic's Mike DeFabo has mentioned former Georgia and Miami quarterback Carson Beck as a potential mid-round option.

While the draft might be the method the Steelers opt for to solve their QB woes, Moton suggests they could look to trade for Mac Jones. Last season, he went 5-3 as a starter, and he has three times as many career starts as Rudolph, the current projected starter.

If the Steelers sent Pick 53 to the 49ers for Jones, they'd have the flexibility to add to their supporting cast via their first round and three third-round picks. If they were to send the pick west, the Steelers would still hold the 21st-, 76th-, 85th-, and 99th selections.

Taking a flier on Jones' potential resurgence might be the best plan for the Steelers. He'll be a free agent at the end of the season, meaning the Steelers could easily part ways with the former Alabama signal caller in the event of a disastrous season.

Don't be surprised to see the former Patriots QB back on the field very soon.
