Drake Maye lives up to the 'Josh Allen 2.0' nickname in early effort vs. the Bears
The Patriots aren't exactly putting together an eventful season to get fans riled up, but there's one undeniable factor that is incredibly exciting for the future: the development and early rise of quarterback Drake Maye. The rookie has already impressed since being named the starter in Week 6. Although he's only been credited with one win (for the game he left early with a concussion), he's already solidified himself as the next franchise quarterback.
His performances have been filled with standout moments, with the most recent being the 12-second scramble into a touchdown pass to Rhamondre Stevenson to tie the game and force overtime against the Titans last week.
But that feels like a thing of the past now, as his latest effort early in the game against the Bears has already trumped that play from last week.
It might not have counted as a touchdown since K.J. Osborn stepped out of bounds, but the continuation of the play despite the pressure in his face and the throw to keep the play alive is reminiscent of his play last week, demonstrating even more that he is exactly what the Patriots need to lead their offense.

Osborn deserves credit for the play, too, since he did all that he could to stay in bounds and remain an available target for Maye to utilize. Considering the tensions behind the scenes regarding his status with the team, it's great to see him involved early and trying to be productive early.
This is a better start to the game than most imagined the Patriots would fare against a tough Bears team, even more so with an offense loaded with talent. It will be interesting to see if New England's offense can keep up with their early successes and steal another win in Chicago.
