The last time the Patriots and Bears matched up in the regular season, it was a game that would become the beginning of the end of the Mac Jones era in New England. The quarterback had been struggling at the start of the season, which wasn't what anyone was hoping for after a productive rookie year, and that all got worse when he suffered a high ankle sprain early on.

That jump-started the quarterback carousel when Jones returned four games later, as rookie backup Bailey Zappe had fared well in his absence.

Despite seeming to rush back from what can be a severe injury, Jones started against the Bears, only to be benched after three offensive drives. The rest of the game wasn't much better outside of a pair of touchdown drives by Zappe, and the indecisiveness of Bill Belichick regarding his quarterback room began.

Fortunately, the Patriots are not in that situation anymore with Drake Maye under center, and the hope is that they will have a far better outing this time than they did two years ago.
