When it comes to great quarterback play, Ty Law knows a thing or two. The legendary New England Patriots' cornerback and Hall of Famer was alongside Tom Brady for the franchise's first three Super Bowl championships and played in another one with Drew Bledsoe as the quarterback of New England's offense.
Even though the Patriots have lost two of their first three games, Law has loved what he's seen out of second-year quarterback Drake Maye.
Law enthusiastically proclaimed "We've got us a quarterback!" on a recent appearance on "The Greg Hill Show," noting he recently had a conversation with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels regarding Maye's progress.

While Maye has a long way to go and he certainly needs to do a better job of taking care of the football - he has two interceptions and a lost fumble through three games - earning the praise of an NFL legend such as Law can hold a lot of weight.
Ty Law's praise of Patriots' QB Drake Maye is well-deserved
Heading into Sunday's Week 4 matchup with Carolina, Maye ranked fifth in the NFL in passing yardage, while his 101.3 quarterback rating has him just outside the top 10 in the league.
One of the biggest goals for Maye coming into the season was to start making more believers across the league. We got glimpses of what he could do as a rookie, but Maye was playing behind a bad offensive line and limited weapons.
So far this season, we've seen a more poised quarterback who isn't deserting the pocket quickly and is using his legs for quality purposes rather than escaping pass rushers. The Patriots' fixing of the offensive line certainly didn't hurt in that context.
The unheralded aspect of Maye's game that has people like Law singing the quarterback's praises is his completion percentage. Maye's hitting his passes at a 72 percent rate through three games, a number that has him third in the league, behind only Justin Herbert and Brock Purdy. Maye's tendencies to sail his throws are slowly starting to dissipate.
When you get the praise of guys like Law, who played in three Super Bowls in New England and won three of them, you're certainly doing something right. And Maye is undoubtedly going to keep winning over Patriots' legends and peers across the league if he continues to develop at a high level.
