The AJ Brown trade appears to be on the horizon for the Patriots, and as a result, their immediate rivals, including the Dolphins, are already hoping disaster strikes and the deal falls through.

That's the feeling amongst the fans in Miami, who are enjoying the recent rumor that the Jaguars are inquiring about Brown's availability. They are the second team to pop up in recent weeks as a team to watch, with the Rams the earliest threat to the Patriots' trade dream.

Although the Jaguars don't necessarily need Brown, as they have former first-round pick Brian Thomas Jr., Travis Hunter, and Jakobi Meyers, surrounding your young quarterback with a plethora of talent is never a bad idea. On top of that, there has been chatter about their interest in trading Thomas, who could be a moving piece in this trade.

Regardless, the Patriots have remained the frontrunner for Brown, and a team like the Dolphins would hate to see that happen. They're not ready to compete for a championship the way the Patriots are.

Still, they did trade Jaylen Waddle this offseason and revamped their offense, so seeing their immediate competition thrive is not at the top of their most wanted list, and their fans are making that very clear.

The AFC East is already worried about what the Patriots will look like with AJ Brown on the offense

While discussing the latest rumor that the Jaguars allegedly inquired about Brown, Phin Phanatic's Richard Louis shared what Dolphins fans are feeling about the situation, expressing hope that the trade falls through.

"Even if the Dolphins aren't ready to compete for a title this year, you never want to see one of the best teams in your division get even better. There's still time before a deal gets struck, but everyone in Miami's building would love to see Brown get traded anywhere outside the AFC East.

Seeing the Patriots strike out would also give Dolphin fans an extra reason to smile going into next season."

Considering how far behind the Dolphins are in the division, despite their impressive draft class that could seriously help their team this fall, it makes sense that they don't want to see a team like the Patriots thrive by pulling off a blockbuster trade for a top-name player.

And although they're hoping to get a good laugh out of a botched trade, Patriots fans can get a chuckle, too, even more if the trade goes through and the Dolphins have virtually no chance of beating them for the next few years.

They might not be serious competition right now or for a while, but it's always fun to see the bottom teams in the division get hit with another reality check about just how far they have to go to be competitive in the way that the Patriots are again, and based on how Dolphins fans are crossing their fingers and toes for this trade to fail, it would be pretty sweet to see them suffer defeat again when it ultimately happens.
