The New England Patriots are solid at defensive tackle (DT). The team boasts Milton Williams and Christian Barmore as the starters. Barmore was a budding superstar whose career was interrupted by a health issue just after his breakout 2023 season, when he'd notched a stratospheric 8.5 sacks.
Recently, ongoing interaction between Barmore and Patriots Hall of Fame defensive tackle Vince Wilfork has been revealed, and it's a nice story.
Barmore's revealed that Wilfork, one of the Patriots' best defensive tackles ever, along with early Patriots legends Jim Lee Hunt, Houston Antwine, and Richard Seymour, has been communicating with Barmore on an ongoing basis.
Interestingly, Wilfork's texts to Barmore come before Patriots' games. Patriot Nation loves Vince WIlfork. And his continuing involvement in support of his former team can only add to that affection. Wilfork is a Patriots legend, and his effort to inspire one of his DT successors is a testament to his Patriots affinity still running deep.

One of the Patriots' all time favorite defensive players is Vince Wilfork. Not only was his play superb, but his persona was even better. A Patriots' Hall of Famer, Wilfork continues to demonstrate his ongoing loyalty to his former team and Patriot Nation even now.

Having a counselor like Wilfork couldn't be better for a budding star defensive tackle like Barmore. After that breakout 2023 season, Barmore has been dogged by health issues, which are now hopefully totally behind him. He was a total one-man wrecking crew in 2023 when he logged 8.5 sacks from his defensive tackle position.
Now, he's disclosed that he has Wilfork, a Patriot legend, who communicates with him before every game firmly in his corner. That can't be bad to hear at all. Barmore has Pro-Bowl level talent if he can harness it and get back to his 2023 form.
Teamed with his terrific interior linemate, Milton Williams, at peak performance, there are few better DT tandems in the NFL.
The 2025 Patriots were a Super Bowl team. They needed to improve this offseason, and they have to a great extent. Yet, one internal solution that could give them a supercharged boost is getting the 2023 Barmore back on the interior of the D-line.
They will if Patriot legend Vince Wilfork has anything to say about it, and that bodes well for Barmore's and the team's futures.
