There's never a bad time to take a little walk down memory lane, especially when memory lane involves seven Super Bowl titles and the greatest head coach and quarterback of all-time. Mike Vrabel and Drake Maye are plenty exciting, but there's still a fun rush to reminiscing on the Bill Belichick/Tom Brady dynasty, especially as the Chiefs are probably two weeks away from becoming their own.

Fortunately, that's why podcasts exist. (Maybe fortunately is the wrong word?) And now that Belichick is a Young, Hip guy that just loves spending his time recruiting in small town North Carolina, he of course has one. While on the 'Let's Go' podcast with Jim Gray, Belichick was elaborating on his views of how to build a winning program when he just so happened to briefly mention an absolutely wild idea to honor Tom Brady: re-naming the Lombardi Trophy after him.
Bill Belichick's wild, Tom Brady-inspired idea is just crazy enough to work
"Players win games," Belichick said. "You can't win games without good players. I don't care who the coach is. It's impossible. You can't win without good players ... I didn't make any tackles, I didn't make any kicks. That was Vinateri that made that kick in four inches of snow. You gotta have good players. And as a coach, you want to give your players a chance to win. You want to put them in a position where if they go out there and play well, they'll have a chance to win. That's what Coach Parcells taught me, is that there's always a way to win. You just have to figure out what it is, and you have to give the players a chance ... maybe they should name [the Lombardi Trophy] the Brady Trophy. He won seven of them."
Hell yes. I'm all aboard this train. Like, 80% of the people watching the Super Bowl these days don't even have the first idea why it's called the Lombardi Trophy. If there's anyone in the NFL who deserves to have their name on the trophy, it's the guy who's won more of them than anyone in league history. It would also make people extremely mad on the internet, and it's been so long since Belichick and Brady made people mad on the internet.
Let's make it happen. I'm sure Roger Goodell will love this idea.
