Bill Belichick's departure from the Patriots after nearly a quarter century as the head coach was a shocking move that few expected to happen this past offseason. Perhaps more surprising was the seeming lack of interest from teams around the league to hire him for the 2025 season and beyond, forcing the legend into a new venture in NFL media.

That wasn't an anticipated move, either, since Belichick became known for not enjoying his forced interactions with reporters during his Patriots tenure.

However, he's been remarkably great in his various roles across several networks, including his weekly appearances on Eli and Peyton Manning's "ManningCast" on ESPN during Monday Night Football this season.

Belichick continues to steal the show almost weekly with his vast knowledge of the game and his great sense of humor, a side of him we weren't privy to throughout his NFL career. Fortunately, he continues to make some pretty legendary commentary, which he did again this past week while being forced to watch the Buffalo Bills take on the New York Jets to finish Week 6.

Bill Belichick essentially confirmed his lack of interest in coaching a longtime rival team

Because the assumption is that Belichick will get back into the coaching sphere as soon as next season, the worst teams in the league so far continue to be discussed as potential suitors to hire him in the offseason.

Many of those look like desirable places for a coach hoping to finally break the longstanding winningest record by Don Shula, like the Eagles or Cowboys, while others, like the Jaguars and Jets, don't seem as appealing. However, that doesn't necessarily eliminate them from contention, except if you're a team in New York.

One of the funnier moments from Belichick's appearance on the 'ManningCast' this week was the jabs at the Jets and their ownership, which was continued by Peyton when referencing the coach's short stint in New York before accepting the position with New England.

It all but confirmed that he has no interest in taking over Robert Saleh's recently vacated role on the Jets' sideline, even though he would likely enjoy working with Aaron Rodgers.

This was incredible news for Patriots fans to hear for many reasons, one being the worry of having to play against a Belichick coached team twice a year because he's in the division.

The other reason is the sheer enjoyment of hearing the beloved coach trash-talk one of the Patriots' biggest rivals throughout their existence, proving even further that hatred continues to flow through Belichick's veins, even if he is not coaching this season. That Patriots' loyalty runs deep.

Although it's not officially confirmed, it seems safe to scratch the Jets off the list of possible teams he will coach for next year, leaving a long list of other teams who will likely call him up this offseason. It'll be interesting to see where he lands next year, assuming he plans to get back into coaching, and hopefully, the Patriots don't have to play whatever team that might be any time soon.
