There has been a lot of speculation in recent weeks about the presumed upcoming trade of wide receiver AJ Brown, with the Patriots leading the conversation as the most likely, if not nearly guaranteed, team to get a deal done with the Eagles.

That has only heated up as the expected trade date, June 2, is nearing, and we're now hearing from NFL insiders on the matter. In fact, Adam Schefter recently expressed complete confidence that Brown will be traded to the Patriots in just under two weeks, and he has planned a trip for that day to demonstrate further how much faith he has in the trade going through.

"I've said I'm sticking to my guns. I've said all along I expect that trade to be on or shortly after June 1. I don't think anything has changed."

Because he likes to be one of the first, if not the first, to report major breaking news such as a blockbuster trade, it's pretty significant that he's willing to be mostly unavailable around the time a trade is projected to be completed.

That's a good sign for Patriots fans, who have been eagerly awaiting the news of Brown making his way to Foxboro.

Adam Schefter's confience in an AJ Brown trade is the best news ever for the Patriots

Despite the recent surge in rumors about a team like the Jaguars calling about potentially trading for Brown, all signs still point to the three-time Pro Bowler suiting up with the Patriots in 2026.

It's a long time coming for Brown, who grew up a massive Patriots fan, as the night Bill Belichick chose to draft N'Keal Harry in the first round of the 2019 Draft has been a stain on the Patriots' organization for a long time. He is one of the superstar receivers who proved beyond any doubt that the head coach made an unforgivable mistake, and it has taken seven years to finally make it right.

Although it would have been nice to have Brown on the team long ago, especially in 2019, to potentially convince Tom Brady to stay, it's better late than never at this point, since New England has been without a high-caliber receiver like him for far too long.

Brown will pair nicely with Romeo Doubs, who was signed in free agency earlier this year, along with the rest of the receiving corps expected to return. He will immediately elevate the group and give Drake Maye his best option to work with thus far, which will be crucial to maintain their trajectory back to the top of the league.

That's exactly what the offense needed after their collapse in the Super Bowl, and the higher-ups in Foxboro are making it happen. And while it might not be official just yet, Schefter's confidence makes it a lot easier to feel good about what's to come.
