The arms race in the AFC East got started early, as the Miami Dolphins made a major trade for an Pro Bowl cornerback on Sunday.

Well, Patriots, Bills, and Jets, it’s your turn.  On Sunday, the Miami Dolphins made a major move when they traded for stud cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a third round pick and TE Hunter Long.

Yeah, that’s it.

Several years ago, Ramsey was traded out of the AFC when the Jacksonville Jaguars sent him to the Los Angeles Rams.  Since then, Ramsey has made more Pro Bowls and won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2021.

Now, the Rams are moving on, and are getting much, much less than what they gave up for him.  However, the Rams did win a Super Bowl, so it was worth it.

Anyway, this is a major move by the Dolphins to fix their defense, which was clearly their worst team unit in 2022.  They kicked off fixing the defense by hiring Vic Fangio to be their defensive coordinator.

Now trading for Ramsey almost seems like icing on the cake.  Don’t forget, they also traded for Bradley Chubb during the 2022 season and made a trade for Tyreek Hill last offseason.

It’s clear that the Dolphins are going all-in, and every other team in the AFC East should be worried, especially the Patriots.

It does seem like the New York Jets have a realistic shot at landing Aaron Rodgers, and the Bills are still the Bills.

What will the Patriots do to try and counter this move?  They surely cannot sit on their hands this offseason, especially with a ton of cap space and high draft picks.

Making a big move for someone like DeAndre Hopkins or Brandin cooks would be huge, along with doing whatever it takes to land Lamar Jackson.
