New England Patriots’ fans may have a tough decision on their hands when they decide who to root for during Super Bowl 57.

No, seriously, who do the fans root for today?  It’s the biggest game of the year as the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs square off in Super Bowl 57 in Arizona.  It’ll be a battle of the two best teams in the NFL as Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts become the two first Black starting quarterbacks to make it to the big game.

So, who should fans root for?

Well, let’s begin with the Chiefs.

It’s clear that Patrick Mahomes could be the only player in the present or at any time in the future who could come close to creating the legacy that Tom Brady has.  As we know, the Pats defeated the Chiefs in the 2018 AFC Championship game before going on to win the Super Bowl.

Tom Brady also took down Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl 55 when he was with the Buccaneers.  It’s clear that there was a rivalry there for a couple of years, but I’m not sure it’s directly related to the Patriots at this point.

As for the Eagles, well, the Patriots have beaten them in one Super Bowl and have lost to them in another one.  Nick Foles got the best of Tom Brady back in 2017 and Tom Brady got the best of Donovan McNabb back in the early 2000s.

There’s also the Andy Reid situation, as Reid has lost to the Patriots in the Super Bowl and has been the coach of the Chiefs for about a decade.

I think there are valid arguments for fans to root for either team, and gatekeeping is no fun, so I won’t judge any Pats’ fan who decides to root for one team or another.
