Playoff bound free agents the Patriots can target in 2023

Tom Brady, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

It’s possible until it doesn’t happen, right?  Brady has endured perhaps the worst year of his career in 2022 with the Buccaneers, and it’s lead to a division title and a playoff berth.  It’s been a deflating year for the seven year champion, but Brady made it to the playoffs, and well, that’s enough to scare opposing teams.

It’s pretty obvious that Brady will either retire at the end of the season or sign with another team.  He is pushing 50 years old, so it’s simply a matter of time until he decides to hang them up for real this time.

I do believe he can still be an effective quarterback and I think doubting Tom Brady is a bad decision.  An interesting statistic that I noticed a while back is the last several times Brady has won a Super Bowl.

It’s come in the 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020 seasons.  All even years, right?

Well, it’s the 2022 season now…

All jokes aside, I think Tom Brady would give at least a smidgen of consideration to return to the Patriots where it all started.  It would be a nice homecoming story and given that the Patriots’ defense was still where it’s normally been, Brady could be the missing link for one final Super Bowl run.
