The New England Patriots play the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night in what will be perhaps their most important game of the season.  This game is extremely pivotal for the club.  They are 6-6 and are the 8th seed in the AFC playoff picture, just one game behind the New York Jets.

The 7-5 Jets have turned to Mike White and play the Buffalo Bills this weekend.  The Patriots have a much easier matchup as they travel to Arizona to face the Cardinals, who have regressed this year.  This appeared to be a very tough matchup before the season, but now looks very winnable.

The Cardinals have serious talent on their roster but are lacking quality coaching.  This is where the Patriots have a huge advantage.

What do the betting markets say about the odds for this game?

Betting lines and predictions for Patriots versus Cardinals

According to FanDuel at this time, New England is a 1.5 point favorite over the Cardinals.  To me, I would personally hammer the over.  Arizona has been able to move the ball a bit more than New England has, but the Vance Joseph led defense has the 31st ranked scoring offense.

If all goes well, Mac Jones and this offense should be able to move the ball.  New England’s moneyline odds are set at -130, and the over/under point total is 43.5.  I’m feeling a bit frisky for this week’s game, so I’d be willing to pick the Patriots to cover the 1.5 point spread and would pick the under for the point total.

Betting $10 for New England to cover the spread would win you $9.26, so you could make some money on this one.

I don’t think this will be a close game.  Kliff Kingsbury is not going to out-scheme Bill Belichick and the defense.  Kyler Murray is exciting, but Matthew Judon and the rest of the pass rush will make life difficult.

Prediction: Patriots 24, Cardinals 16
