Three free agents the Patriots should sign

Jared Cook, TE

The Patriots hosted a trio of tight ends on a visit as well, but none of them are near the pedigree of Jared Cook, who has been the epitome of consistency for his whole career.  Cook is a true receiving threat at the position and still has some speed left in the tank.

Cook is a two time Pro Bowler and came into the league in 2009 with the Tennessee Titans.  He recently was with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2021, after short stints with the New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders, Green Bay Packers, and Los Angeles Rams.

Cook’s 564 receiving yards in 2021 and four touchdown catches still proves that he can be an effective option.  The Patriots are only carrying two tight ends on the roster, so one injury could really make this a position of need.

Jared Cook is as veteran as it gets.  He’s got three years of playoff experience as well and has played in at least 10 games in every season of his career.  Giving Mac Jones another receiving option and a true redzone threat could perhaps help with the offense, which has been less than inspiring in 2022 so far.
