New England Patriots dodge a bullet in week five
The New England Patriots may have dodged a bullet in an already tough division. Based on the strength of the schedule, wins may be hard to come by!
In 2022, anyone with eyes can see the New England Patriots’ schedule is nothing short of tough and competitive. Not to mention, the AFC East division has gotten significantly tougher, as well. The already stacked Buffalo Bills handed the Patriots the disappointing loss that ended their season last January (47-17). The latest acquisition of former Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill for the Miami Dolphins will alongside other key players that will only make them tougher to beat. The odds stacking against the Patriots will prove every game and win will be important this season. Recently, ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted the games that will be missed due to Watson’s suspension.
"“From a football standpoint, this means Deshaun Watson will miss games against Panthers, Jets, Steelers, Falcons, Chargers, Patriots.Oct. 23 against the #Ravens would be his first game back.”"
In fact, the over/under total wins of the Patriots this upcoming season is 8.5, reported Jennifer Piacenti for Sports Illustrated. However, many didn’t anticipate Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson only missing six games in total. One of those six games being missed happens to be against the Patriots. The 26-year-old was found guilty of having violated the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Federal Judge Sue L. Robinson made her decision public early Monday morning.
Watson sat out last season for the Houston Texans because of contractual differences. After being drafted in 2017, he quickly proved he should be considered amongst the top passers in football. Watson’s career hasn’t looked back since. However, one may feel about the decision or ruling of his suspension; they have to admit Watson when playing and healthy is considered one of the elites.
The New England Patriots can rest at night peacefully
Understanding the meaning and importance of every win is important. Ultimately, this will help the Patriots have a shot at making the playoffs. The way the AFC is shaping up, it may take no less than 10/11 games to make the wildcard of the playoffs.
