The New England Patriots have a promising young quarterback, but Las Vegas is pegging their 2022 win totals a bit lower than some might think.

For those who are into legal sports betting, the over/under win totals for NFL teams in 2022 have been out for a bit now.  The New England Patriots enjoyed a rather successful 10-7 season in 2021, but could be in for less wins in 2022.

The AFC East loaded up this offseason; the Miami Dolphins were extremely active in free agency, hiring a new coaching staff and infusing their offense with a ton of talent.  The Buffalo Bills somehow managed to add a ton of quality players in free agency and got better where they needed to, and the New York Jets managed to have a very solid draft yet again, and are hoping for a big year from Zach Wilson.

The Patriots didn’t exactly do as well this offseason as their AFC East counterparts, and Vegas seems to be on board with that unfortunately.

Thelines.com has compiled a page with the projected win totals for all 32 totals from several legal sportsbooks.

DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and PointsBet all have the Patriots over/under win total for 2022 and 8.5 wins, and Bet365 has the team at 7.5 wins for 2022.

For reference, those win totals are about the same for the Dolphins with the same sportsbooks.  The Jets are projected to win the least games in the AFC East this season.

I would feel comfortable taking over 8.5 wins in 2022 for the team.  I am looking at a few games that I would safely project them to win.

These games include matchups against the Dolphins at home, Steelers, Lions, Bears, and both games against the Jets.

Games that I think are likely 50/50 right now would be games against the Browns, Colts, Vikings, and Cardinals.

Finally, games that I wouldn’t feel comfortable picking the Patriots to win at this time are against the Ravens, Packers, both matchups against the Bills, Raiders, and Bengals.

There are some clearly tough games in 2022 for the team, but I also do see a path forward for the club to win at least 10 games again.

While the Patriots might not be the hottest team that has been talked about this offseason, they benefit from the best coach in NFL history, a stout defense, and likely a very improved Mac Jones in year two.

I don’t think the team is at as big of a disadvantage in the AFC as some may think.  Sure, they aren’t favored too heavily right now, but I do expect that to change as the season progresses.

Hammer the over.
