Are the New England Patriots the best team in the AFC? Based entirely on current form, you’d be hard-pressed to pick anyone over them.

The Ravens have a better record, but Lamar Jackson is turning the football over at an alarming rate. The Chiefs, meanwhile, might have their swagger back on defense, but the offense still looks out of sync.

The Bills — the Patriots’ upcoming opponent — need to string together a couple of strong performances in a row before we can start taking them seriously again, and the Titans have too many injuries to be in the conversation at the moment.

At this point, everyone is drinking the Patriots’ Kool-Aid. That includes renowned Colts fan and de facto New England hater, Pat McAfee, who went on an epic rant about the Pats’ dominance over the last six weeks.

Pat McAfee’s latest rant on the Patriots was spot on.

Did you really think Bill Belichick was going to let 7-9 become the new standard in Foxborough? If you did, you haven’t been paying attention the last 20 years, because Belichick is on a revenge tour that has no end in sight.

As McAfee alluded to, everyone was so quick to get off their “Brady was more important to the Patriots’ dynasty” takes. All because New England struggled to overcome a crippling magnitude of free agent departures, eight player opt-outs, and their new quarterback, Cam Newton, testing positive for COVID-19.

All Belichick did in response was hash out nearly $300 million in the first wave of free agency and find his quarterback of the future in Mac Jones, the fifth QB taken in the 2021 draft, without trading up to do so.

During their six-game winning streak, the Patriots have outscored their opponents an impossible 211-63. That means they’re winning by an average of 25 points per game. These aren’t just wins. The Pats are humiliating their competition.

In all honesty, Patriots fans should be thankful that people decided to kick Belichick to the curb after ONE down year.

He was likely going to have the last laugh anyway, but all the takes that claimed he was a passenger along for the ride during Brady’s tenure no doubt gave him that extra motivation to come back with a vengeance.

The Pats’ 2020 roster was incredibly shorthanded and he still managed to squeeze seven wins out of it. We’d even go as far as to say that the 2021 roster isn’t a top-five group in the league. That’s the point, though. A coach of Belichick’s caliber doesn’t need lemons to make lemonade.

Give him a couple high-end talents, an accurate quarterback who takes care of the football, a viable running game, and players who buy into his style of coaching, and he’ll turn any team into a world-beater.
