Is everyone still distracted by analyzing and picking apart every angle of Sunday’s Patriots loss to the Saints? Too busy to listen to Tom Brady takes? Got it. My sweet spot for commentary. Here I go.

The Adele “Hello” NBC promo touting Brady’s return to New England with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? It’s not good. It’s not touching. It’s straight-up goofy! Who is this for?

Though the Tom Brady “emotional return” trailer set to British pop music has been tweeted next to countless “cry-laughing” emojis over the past 24 hours, I tell you what … I don’t really see many laughs here!

This was, tonally, played 85% in earnest, no matter how many cocked-to-the-side sobbers you tweet when you share it.

Here, in all its glory, is the weird Brady return mashup that NBC dropped ahead of Week 4’s marquee game.

Does this … does this do anything for you?

Tom Brady’s return to the Patriots comes with an Adele twist.

Hey, here’s an observation: did you notice they edited out the part of the song that goes, “At least I can say that I tried/to tell you I’m sorry”?

Because Brady, uh, didn’t really try that hard to let New England fans know he was “sorry” for leaving, and both his father and personal trainer widened the rift between the two camps this week.

Did TB12 need to apologize for seeking a new destination over the suddenly-stale comforts of home? No. Not really. But he definitely didn’t do it. Glad the producers sliced those lyrics from this rolling-on-the-floor funny promo.

Unfortunately, fans of the 1-2 New England Patriots are about to be absolutely inundated with Brady coverage. With a soft part of the schedule up front (the Dolphins at home, the freaking Jets on the road, and the Saints in Foxborough), we definitely had high hopes that Mac Jones would slice and dice his way to perfection and a 3-0 sprint into this meeting of the minds.

The record’s not up to par, though, and now it’ll be Brady, Brady, Brady, instead of a fun examination of the Brady-Belichick rivalry. Early in Sunday’s game, TB12 will set a passing record. The game will stop. Someone will give him a gift.

From the Patriots’ side? It’s going to be sold to you as an event represented by longing and loss, hence the Adele. A week ahead of time, we’re already bored of it.
