Fans in New England are likely chomping at the bit to purchase the latest installment of the critically-acclaimed Madden franchise so they can play with the Patriots’ new-look roster.

Not only did the Patriots add a handful of high-end talents through free agency, but they  dominated the draft, which saw them nab Mac Jones, Christian Barmore, Ronnie Perkins and Rhamondre Stevenson with their first four selections.

Though all four of those incoming rookies have high potential, it goes without saying fans are most excited to play with Jones.

After all, he plays quarterback, has pinpoint accuracy, and will hopefully be the Patriots’ starter under center for at least the next decade.

However, fans should probably temper expectations, because Jones’ avatar looks totally unrecognizable. Seriously. The facial features are a horror show and depict the rookie QB as a middle-aged man with a fully-grown beard.

Like RedditCFB’s humorous tweet suggests, let’s all hope Madden hasn’t performed an official face scan for Jones yet, because would be an all-time bad gaffe.

Patriots fans won’t appreciate Mac Jones’ rookie Madden likeness.

Who are you and what have you done to baby-faced Jones? We’re getting serious Andrew Luck vibes, and that’s really troubling when you consider the former Colts quarterback resembles a  lumberjack and Jones looks more like a freshman in college.

Does anyone know if Jones can even grow a beard? It’s as if the former Crimson Tide star, who helped Alabama win a national championship last season, by the way, went undrafted and signed with a team before OTAs to offer extra competition at the quarterback position.

Nope. We’re talking about the potential long term QB of the Patriots, the most successful franchise in the history of the NFL. Speaking of which, it didn’t take long for one of the organization’s greatest players ever to jump into the discussion.

Julian Edelman, who retired this offseason, chimed in on Twitter with a hilarious joke about minicamp getting the best of Jones. You might laugh, but the 22-year-old rookie was reportedly the first player to show up for practice and one of the last ones to leave the facility.

Nary a shade of blonde hair to be found. What a shame.

In fairness to Edelman, can you really blame him from grabbing the low-hanging fruit? After all, Jones going to be taking heat from both current and former Patriots for this egregious look (not that it’s his fault) until Madden is finally released, as it always is, in late August.

Hopefully by then EA Sports will have an avatar in place that actually resembles Jones.
