First came the trade buzz prior to the 2020 season.

Then came Julian Edelman’s retirement, which resulted in a back-and-forth on social media with former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Now? More speculation in regard to whether Edelman will risk it all for Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers … because Brady just had to open his mouth and troll Pats fans as well as Bill Belichick.

Thanks, GOAT.

Apparently, Brady was on a big Zoom call for the NFL Draft-A-Thon with a number of celebrities … and Edelman.

Hall of Famer Deion Sanders then called out Brady for “letting his guy retire” without convincing him to come to Tampa, and that’s when it all started.

That’s actually … spot-on. Then again, it’s truly every Patriots fan’s fear that Edelman will pull a Rob Gronkowski and link up with the boys in Tampa, so this is going to have to stop soon. It feels too real and there’s still a lot of time before offseason activities kick off.

But there are notions and evidence to put all of the Foxborough Faithful at ease for now.

Who will block Patriots WR Julian Edelman from joining Tom Brady and the Buccaneers?

For one, the Bucs just recently brought back Antonio Brown in a move that was considered unexpected in addition to drafting North Texas wideout Jaelon Darden in the fourth round.

What’s the significance? Well, we know the Bucs will find plenty of reps for Brown alongside Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, just like they did last year. As for Darden, though he played in a weak Conference USA, the 5-foot-8, 174-pound speedster racked up 1,926 receiving yards and an insane 31 touchdowns over the last two years.

Yeah, they’ll be finding ways to utilize him on offense. The same goes for Tyler Johnson, who showed flashes of potential his rookie season.

But even more concrete than that? Edelman laughed off the chatter on the Zoom call and then went out of his way on Sunday to tell Pat McAfee that the “buzz” that was circulating (yup, there was more before this even made its rounds on Monday!) wasn’t true.

Keep shooting down those rumors, Jules. Foxboro Forever, indeed.
