Patriots fans might cry seeing Tom Brady’s postgame video with Rob Gronkowski
By Jerry Trotta
This video of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski celebrating will leave Patriots fans in a pool of tears.
It’s actually ludicrous to think about how many analysts and pundits gave the Buccaneers a remote chance to topple the Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday. Though it’s their job to do so, we suppose they simply forgot that Tom Brady, who won nine such games in his career with the Patriots coming into the weekend, was under center for Tampa Bay.
Though Brady certainly didn’t cover himself in glory in the second half — he threw three interceptions that the Packers inexplicably failed to capitalize on — he was mostly excellent and didn’t get a ton of help from his receiving corps, which dropped a handful (if not more) of his passes.
When all was said and done, the Buccaneers won by a final score of 31-26, becoming the first team in league history that will host a Super Bowl in their home stadium. As if that wasn’t already enough torture for Patriots fans, however, Brady posted a video celebrating with Rob Gronkowski that is guaranteed to trigger memories of the 2019 AFC Championship Game.
Yeah, that stings a bit.
For those who forget, Brady posted almost an identical hype clip to Twitter as the two players departed Arrowhead Stadium and headed for the team bus after they defeated Kansas City to advance to the Super Bowl two years ago. Based on their facial expressions, the two Patriots legends knew exactly what they were doing in terms of recreating that viral video.
We’re not sure there are any words that can help Patriots fans cope with this reality, which seemed impossible prior to the Bucs’ bye week, when they’d lost three of four games and looked the polar opposite of a team capable of competing for a championship.
Amazingly enough, Tampa hasn’t lost a game since then and Brady can now further cement his legacy as the greatest player to ever step foot on an NFL field.
We knew there was a chance of this happening once he signed with the Buccaneers last winter, but the fact that it actually came to fruition is extremely difficult to come to terms with. Throw in the cocky celebratory video with Gronkowski, and this might just be rock bottom for Patriots fans.
