Bill Belichick nearly leaving John Harbaugh in the dust after Pats-Ravens was kind of funny

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was looking for Bill Belichick after the Patriots’ win.

With their season seemingly dead in the water, the New England Patriots have rattled off two consecutive wins to catapult themselves back into the hunt of the AFC playoff picture. They obviously still have a ways to go and their remaining schedule has some tough fixtures, but fans have every right to feel optimistic given the dominant performance they put together against the Ravens on Sunday night.

Nobody gave the Patriots a shot at toppling Baltimore, which is downright foolish when you consider head coach Bill Belichick’s record as a home underdog. His side proved that it can still compete with some of the best teams in the NFL despite being severely undermanned.

There was a lot to like from the victory, but one of the best moments ironically came after the fourth quarter clock showed zeroes, when Belichick appeared to use the monsoon as an excuse to almost leave Ravens head coach John Harbaugh hanging at midfield.

Harbaugh’s reaction to being left in the dust was priceless and it honestly serves him right after the subtle shade he threw at the Patriots’ roster leading up to the game. For those unaware of the situation, the 58-year-old went out of his way to way to laud New England’s coaching staff while abstaining from complimenting players on the team.

When you take that and their head-to-head record into consideration, perhaps the hurricane-like conditions didn’t have everything to do with Belichick bolting for the locker room. After all, Harbaugh is 4-7 in his coaching career against the Patriots legend, including two playoff wins.

That might not sound like much, but not many coaches — other than Tom Coughlin, of course — have enjoyed consistent success (let alone any success) against Belichick. The Ravens HC has been a thorn in his side for years now.

The win of the season coming over a longtime AFC rival with Belichick potentially sending a message by leaving their head coach befuddled for a moment at midfield after the game? Considering where the Patriots were just two weeks ago, fans in New England honestly couldn’t ask for anything more.
