The New England Patriots got hit with an absurdly bad no-call on a Patrick Mahomes fumble (honestly, an interception?).

Make this two straight New England Patriots games against the Kansas City Chiefs where the referees appear to be on the wrong team’s payroll.

Brian Hoyer and the Pats are battling with everything they have so far on Monday, gaining strength as the game goes thanks to an impressive defensive effort. From Stephon Gilmore’s punched-out fumble to Deatrich Wise’s pressure, there’s a lot to like about the entire unit’s performance.

But the team could’ve had one more monster play on their ledger.

Somehow, on 3rd & 4, the team’s bullrush of Patrick Mahomes was blown dead before the QB coughed the ball up directly into the arms of the Patriots. Could’ve been a fumble, turned into an interception, blown dead before a furious Bill Belichick could do anything about it.

How do we not let them keep playing there?! What’s the goal of the early whistle other than to halt the Patriots’ momentum?

Needless to say, this made every Pats fan think about last year’s down-to-the-wire battle in Foxborough, in which N’Keal Harry was disrespected repeatedly.

If you recall that situation, Harry’s supposed TD was called back, as referees incorrectly claimed he was out of bounds at the three-yard line. Clearly, he was not.

But sure, the Pats have the refs in their pockets. Sure, sure.

The entire NFL world will laugh at New England and claim they have every advantage in the books, but on Monday, it certainly seems as if the Pats will have to keep digging out of a hole against the Zebras and the resurgent KC defense with Brian Hoyer under center.

It’s alright. No one likes us. We don’t care. It’s kind of our thing, at this point. This is the biggest underdog line the Pats have faced in what feels like forever, so might as well add extra enemies and make the game as tough as possible.
