Patriots: 3 Pats players poised for huge bounce back years
By Jerry Trotta
2. Cam Newton
Patriots QB Cam Newton is ready to prove himself.
As much as we wanted to give Cam Newton the top spot on this list, it didn’t feel quite right because he wasn’t a member of the team in 2019.
However, that doesn’t at all change the fact that he’s one of the betting favorites to win the Comeback Player of the Year award.
As we know, foot and shoulder injuries limited the the 31-year-old quarterback to just two games last season, which ultimately led to his unceremonious exit with the Carolina Panthers, who drafted him No. 1 overall in 2011. We’ve been trying our best to keep up with Newton’s workout log on social media — in most of which he can be seen calling out his critics and pumping ridiculous quantities of iron — but he’s simply posting too frequently for that to be possible.
The former MVP is seemingly as motivated as he’s ever been and we are fully buying into the notion that he’s going to set the NFL on fire while playing on a one-year contract with the Patriots in 2020, schemed by Josh McDaniels and with an overloaded backfield at his disposal.
Needless to say, we’re all in.
