Patriots QB Cam Newton had a cryptic comment in response to Antonio Brown’s latest post on Instagram.

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown seemingly loves nothing more than stirring up controversy. In recent months, his primary target audience has been the Patriots’ innocent fan base, which was quick to welcome him with open arms when New England signed him last September.

Well, the seven-time Pro Bowler took to Instagram in cryptic fashion yet again by sharing a photo of him celebrating in a Patriots uniform with a caption that read, “it’s now or never,” implying that he’s keen on a reunion with the franchise.

This is pretty much the norm for Brown these days, so the post was almost to be expected. What saw this narrative take a turn for the crazy, however, was Cam Newton’s equally-ambiguous response.

This probably wasn’t the greatest business decision from Newton as the Patriots are evidently going to great lengths to keep their distance from the embattled veteran, who’s had several run-ins with the law over the last year, the most alarming of which include sexual assault and rape allegations.

We’re not saying that the former MVP‘s comment suggests that he wants Brown lining up out wide for him in New England, but the cryptic language just isn’t necessary.

The Patriots simply have no interest in wasting anymore energy on the Central Michigan product, especially while he’s facing a potentially lengthy suspension once the NFL (finally) concludes its investigation into the allegations brought against him.

Again, supporting friends and colleagues on social media could simply be par for the course for Newton, but he should probably refrain from comments that imply he’s recruiting Brown to Foxborough.
