Patriots wideout Julian Edelman has kept the offseason mood light with funny social media posts.

Aside from having to address the DeSean Jackson controversy and Tom Brady leaving for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it’s been a fun offseason for Julian Edelman. He’s been joking around on social media and absolutely loving the New England Patriots bringing Cam Newton to town.

But we’ve yet to see him working out with any of his teammates. Newton has already taken initiative and linked up with Mohamed Sanu and N’Keal Harry. Jarrett Stidham is out there too getting reps with some of the guys.

It seems Edelman is still enjoying himself in quarantine, though, reliving his days as a quarterback at Kent State.

Edelman to Edelman! Just like the good old days with the Golden Flashes. Don’t forget Edelman passed for nearly 5,000 yards (and rushed for almost 2,500 yards) in 31 college games. We’ve seen Belichick use him on some trick plays and it’s clear he’s still got an arm.

Nonetheless, Edelman is surely taking his time getting back up to speed this offseason. He played much of 2019 hobbled with injuries and learned after the team’s playoff loss to the Tennessee Titans that he’d need surgery on his knee and shoulder.

Despite all that, Edelman led the team in receiving and recorded career highs in yards, receptions and touchdowns. So, yeah, take all the time you need, Jules.

Certainly there are concerns heading into 2020 with a quarterback change and a ton of personnel departures on defense, but Edelman has done his job as a team leader in wake of all this. He’s been saying all the right things, engaging with his teammates, and working hard to recover from going under the knife.

Edelman is used to being overlooked, so don’t be surprised if he silences the doubters next season. Time to fire up the trick plays, Bill! We need Edelman throwing to himself at some point.

Next. It's Time to Trade Joe Thuney. dark
