The New England Patriots closed out the first half of their 2019 NFL season with a 27-13 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

New England battled two opponents on Sunday: the Cleveland Browns and Mother Nature, as the rain continued to pour from the opening kickoff to the final whistle. This hard-fought victory over a very game Browns team improved the New England Patriots‘ record to 8-0.

The win was also the 300th of Bill Belichick’s career, and it is only fitting that it came against the team he started his head coaching career with way back in the 1990s. The Patriots also remain the only undefeated team in the AFC, and still sit in first place in the AFC East.

The game started to spiral away from Cleveland rather quickly and yet another rout was on the horizon for the Patriots, but they actually had to fight to preserve the win until time ran out. The Browns would not go away quietly, but New England battled yet another team looking to knock them off of their pedestal.

Before the game, we shared a preview of four points, or “4 Downs,” to observe when both teams hit the field in Foxboro. Let’s review and see how the New England Patriots did in each category of emphasis.
