Tom Brady was so confident in Jeopardy sensation James Holzhauer that he publicly declared he’d eat a strawberry if the champion lost Monday night.

New England Patriots quarterback knows a thing or two about winning. After re-writing the record books when it comes to regular season winning percentage, playoff appearances, playoff victories, and Super Bowl titles, it’s an accurate assessment to suggest that Brady kind of has this whole “winning” thing down pat at this point.

So when he recognizes that rare trait in someone else – that penchant for victory, that almost-maniacal drive for success – it’s probably a good idea to pay attention. Now, Brady appears to have pinpointed that trait in uber-successful game show contestant James Holzhauer.

Holzhauer is on absolute fire as a contestant on the popular long-running television game show “Jeopardy.” He’s already appeared on 24 episodes, won over $1.8 million, and broken several records of his own, including the mark for most money won in a single day on the show. Currently, he’s the third-highest overall winning contestant on “Jeopardy” in history, and at the rate he’s going, he very well could finish No. 1 overall by the time he’s done.

Brady has taken notice. On Monday, he tweeted the following:

TB12 is famous for his somewhat-unconventional dietary parameters and nutritional beliefs. He doesn’t eat eggplant, but he does eat avocado ice cream. He thinks everyone should be drinking an ocean’s worth of water a day. And he never, ever, ever claims to have eaten a strawberry or sipped a cup of coffee… in his life.

Next. What are the chances the Pats land Gerald McCoy?. dark

With that all in mind, Brady’s tweet becomes all the more dramatic, and the potential ramifications of “Jeopardy” on the quarterback’s health and core ideology all the more severe. Thankfully for Brady though, Holzhauer delivered once again Monday night, extending his own winning streak while extending Tom Terrific’s streak sans strawberries in the process.

Who knew that the worlds of fruit, football, and trivia had so much in common?
