Recent New England Patriots rumors involve trade talks with the Cleveland Browns about Jamie Collins.

With the NFL Trade Deadline only hours away, New England Patriots rumors have begun ramping up. The Patriots have been linked to a few players already, mostly on the offensive side of the ball.

New England has been linked to a few wide receivers, which is odd since they already traded for Josh Gordon from the Cleveland Browns. However, it sounded like there have been some issues with Gordon, so the team could be looking to add another wide receiver if he cannot abide by the rules.

Demaryius Thomas of the Denver Broncos has been linked to the Patriots, as has Golden Tate of the Detroit Lions.

Ian Rapoport shared the news on his Twitter account.

In addition to the wide receivers, the Patriots could also use help defensively. They have been making calls for players on that side of the ball as well.

According to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, the Patriots have checked in on their former linebacker, Jamie Collins. Collins has been playing with the Cleveland Browns since New England traded him there during the 2016 season.

New England has had internal discussions about Collins. He would instantly upgrade a defense that has struggled this season. He would be able to play virtually right away as he knows the Patriots system.

Collins spent parts of four seasons to begin his career in New England. He was a good player, leading the team with 138 combined tackles in 2014 and being named a Pro Bowler in 2015.

The Patriots and Browns have worked together a lot in the last few months on the trade front.

Prior to the 2018 NFL Draft, the Patriots completed trades for Jason McCourty and Danny Shelton, both from the Browns. During the 2018 NFL Draft, they completed another swap of picks with Cleveland. Trade talks didn’t stop there. Gordon was also acquired from the Browns a few weeks ago.

That is four trades between the two teams over the course of the past few months. Will they make it five with a trade of Collins?
