Recent New England Patriots rumors involve wide receiver Josh Gordon, who will be disciplined for the start of Monday Night Football.

There have been a number of New England Patriots rumors leading up to their Monday Night Football showdown with the Buffalo Bills.

First, there were Patriots rumors about the availability of Patriots‘ tight end, Rob Gronkowski. Gronkowski looks like he will be suiting up and ready to go for New England. The same cannot be said for his teammate, Josh Gordon.

The beleaguered wide receiver will be active, but the team will be disciplining him at the start of the game. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Gordon will be disciplined for showing up late.

Rapoport shared the news on his Twitter account.

This isn’t a good development for Gordon. Gordon struggled with off the field issues during his time with the Cleveland Browns and looks to be struggling to break those habits with New England.

According to Kevin Duffy of The Boston Herald and Jeff Howe of The Athletic, Gordon had multiple latenesses this week.

Duffy reported that Gordon showed up late to a meeting, while Howe said that he was late before the team departed from Gillette Stadium to travel for their game.

This is certainly not a good development for Gordon. New England is known for running a tight ship under Bill Belichick. They have shown they are not afraid to move on from players if they do not abide by those rules.

However, this also shows just how great of a talent that Gordon is. Multiple infractions usually lead to a lot worse than being sidelined for a few drives. Sometimes, it can result in the loss of your job.

Gordon is so talented, the Patriots are hoping they can still get him on the straight and narrow. There is no denying how much he can help the team on the field. However, at what point will his off-field issues become too much for New England?

These issues for Gordon could play a part in why the organization has been linked to a few wide receivers on the trade market. Demaryius Thomas of the Denver Broncos is one player that has been linked to New England.

Originally that report could have been thought of as just a means to improve the weapons at Tom Brady‘s disposal. However, it could also be a sign that the team is looking for alternative plans in case the Gordon experiment doesn’t work out.
