New England Patriots News: Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is excited about this week’s matchup for home-field advantage.

New England Patriots news this week will mostly revolve around the impending matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Patriots and Steelers will be facing off this weekend in arguably the biggest game thus far in the regular season.

Home field in the postseason will be up for grabs. The Patriots are essentially in a must-win scenario. If they are victorious, they will take over the No. 1 seed in the AFC based on tiebreakers. They would control their own destiny to the No. 1 seed.

If the Steelers win, they would be the driver’s seat. They would have a two-game lead over the Patriots and the head-to-head tiebreaker. That would knock the Patriots out of the running for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

Pittsburgh would not even need to win another game the remainder of the season to get the top seed. They would only need a Jacksonville Jaguars loss, or one more victory, to clinch home field.

All eyes will be on this game this weekend. It pits two of the best teams in the NFL against each other with a huge prize at the end.

This is the type of games fans dream of during the regular season. Both teams will be ready to play and the Steelers are embracing the challenge of taking down the Patriots, who have been a thorn in their side for years.

"“It’s good to be in the kitchen. The kitchen’s in Pittsburgh, PA, this week in the National Football League, and at Heinz Field,” Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said of his team’s showdown with New England in arguably the biggest game of the NFL season. “That’s where you want to be in the middle of December. We don’t take it for granted.”"

The Steelers have the advantage this week as they will host the Patriots in Pittsburgh. The Steelers are a much stronger team at home than on the road, so being in the friendly confines of Heinz Field gives them an edge.

This game is something Tomlin and the Steelers have had circled for weeks. Three weeks ago, Tomlin predicted fireworks between the Patriots and Steelers in an interview with Tony Dungy.

In actuality, this is something the Steelers have been prepping for since the first team activities in preparation for the 2017 season. The Steelers have been preparing to take home field advantage all the way back in March.

"“It’s good to be in big games. It’s better to be in big games than ones nobody’s watching,” he said. “We better be appreciative of this spot and not resistant in any way, but embrace it. This is what we’ve been fighting for since March, to be in these types of games against these types of people. Why would you fight that? It’s an awesome thing.”"

The Steelers have had their struggles against the Patriots with Tom Brady at the helm. Brady is 7-2 against the Steelers in his career in the regular season and 3-0 in the postseason. He has not lost to them since October 30th, 2011.

That is not stopping Tomlin and the Steelers from being confident this time around. Tomlin said that he loves it, and you can be sure that his team does as well. You can be sure that the Steelers will be ready to play this weekend. If the Patriots perform as they did against the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football, they could be run off the field at Heinz Field.
