1. New York Giants

This is not a joke.

It seems the moves the Giants have made in pre-free agency have geared towards some heavy spending. It also turns out that one of their biggest needs is tight end. There have been discussions that they might take O.J Howard out of Alabama, but he could be gone by the 23rd pick.

After letting the media know that they won’t be re-signing Larry Donnell, it became clear that they want Martellus Bennett.

With over $33 million in cap space, the team will be making some aggressive moves to attract free agents. It could be enough to entice him to leave a good spot for a rising team, and he’s already played for the franchise.

He recently called the Mara family “The Tisch and Mara families are some of the best owners in the world. I liked it up there.” to Newsday. Therefore, he did not close to door for a return, or deny it would be possible.

The one thing that strikes me as a believer in this signing is the moves that the Giants have made so far. With the releasing of Victor Cruz and unwillingness to re-sign Larry Donnell, it seems more likely than ever that they make a high bid on Martelllus Bennett come March.

At this point, with the moves they made over the past few days, I would be shocked if they didn’t meet with him. Then, offer him a contract and see where it goes from there.

The more moves I see the Giants make, the more I think they are gearing towards a bigger player. Bennett fits the bill. After 9 years of jumping around teams, I think Bennett comes back to New York.
