3 – Logan Ryan

Twelve months ago, Ryan was a player than many fans would happily drive to the airport if he was being offered a deal as a free agent. His 2016 season was a step above anything he has produced in his time with the Patriots. Consistency is still an issue for Ryan as he had some games where he spent more time chasing receivers instead of covering them. However, there were some games where he almost looked like a capable number one corner. Malcolm Butler has that number one spot locked down for the time being and has his own contract issues to deal with.

Ryan might have some offers to come to another team and be their best corner but with the Patriots, playing behind Butler, he has found a role that suits his skills. While there may be other options out there that could come in and improve that position, Ryan’s familiarity with the defense, and Matt Patricia’s familiarity with his skills set makes him an attractive option to keep around.
