RUNNING BACK

1. LeGarrette Blount

2. James White

3. Tyler Gaffney

4. Brandon Bolden

5. James Develin

Blount is expected to assume a large role in the offense immediately, projecting as the focal point of a rushing attack the Patriots will look to establish to help Garoppolo navigate his way through the first four games of the year. He will be spelled primarily by White and Gaffney; White is more than just a third down back, and Gaffney makes the team after surviving back to back preseasons of injury tragedies.

Patriots 2016 season prediction

At the bottom of the Patriots depth chart at running back, wily veteran Bolden makes the team on account of his range of abilities: special teams, pass catching and the occasional carry. Develin rounds out the group after missing all of the 2015 season; he edges Iosefa for the snowplowing role. Foster is also left off the final roster, but a practice squad spot awaits him.
