New England Patriots Wide Receivers Shaping Up as Best Battle in Training Camp
By Hal Bent
Rookie fourth-round draft pick Malcolm Mitchell was in the camp news having sat out practice one day this week. Apparently, his knee issues in college at Georgia is something the coaches and trainers will keep an eye on and give him some maintenance time-off this summer to keep him healthy and fresh.

Mitchell has been a stand-out so far this summer with his speed on the outside and strong route-running technique. At the time of the NFL Draft, Mitchell stood out as a player who could be a perfect fit in New England where he could use his high intelligence and precise route running to fit in the complex Josh McDaniels offense. So far, his ability to understand the route concepts in New England have been as good as advertised.
Mitchell was likely to make the roster anyway as a fourth-round draft pick, but he is a player who could make headlines with a strong showing in the preseason and force his way onto the field.
