Round 7, Pick 4 (No. 225 overall) – Devin Lucien

The lowdown: Lucien drew national attention as the 2015 season wore on, capping off his final year of eligibility (he spent the first four years at UCLA) with three 100-yard games. At 6-foot-2, Lucien will be the second-tallest wideout at training camp.

Where he could fit: Much like Mitchell, Lucien will be trying out for an outside role to echo the interior traffic of Edelman and Amendola, not to mention the tight end duo of Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett.

I don’t even watch the draft anymore

Who he will be competing against: Mitchell, first and foremost; the Patriots may take on a rookie wideout, but not more than one. Lucien will also target Dobson as a returning Patriot he could displace on the final roster, as he stands just an inch shorter than the 6-foot-3 veteran whose pro career has been underwhelming to say the least.

Roster chances: 4/10. Mitchell got a 7.5/10, so that gives you an idea of the odds Lucien is up against. Lucien is hoping to avoid the fate of the last wideout the Patriots drafted in the seventh round, Jeremy Gallon (last year). He will aim to emulate Edelman, a 2009 seventh round selection.
