Patriots: I Don’t Even Watch the Draft Anymore

Hey guys, I’m back from vacation. I know you all missed me so much… anyway, let’s talk about what everyone else is talking about obviously, the draft.

Truthfully, I don’t even watch the draft anymore. I maybe caught a few minutes when Goodell got boo’d, which did my heart good; other than that I just wasn’t paying attention.

I don’t see the point to watch the draft as a Patriots fan. Honestly, watching the Patriots draft does nothing but make me mad. You see guys that you know the team could use, in a position you think the team could use and they go completely left field every time.

Outside of the Jones pick, I hated everything about the draft. I knew they probably wouldn’t get a running back, except maybe Keenan Reynolds, so I wasn’t too shocked. But c’mon. You have 1 pick from the 4th to the 5th round and don’t pick until the middle of the 6th and you take a QB because Brady may stay suspended for a few games and you want the insurance? Why? I would have just grabbed a veteran for a few games. He’ll probably pick up the playbook faster.

Then they get a fat, out of shape d-lineman who takes plays off and doesn’t hustle. They don’t even need more nose tackles. I’m hearing decent things about the WR Mitchell, but there were plenty of better players on the board and they’re like nope; we want a slow, short WR who up to a few years ago couldn’t read past the 8th grade…sounds like a slam dunk to me; especially since the Patriots are known for their WR development.

I’m not really surprised that we didn’t get Glenn Gronkowski. I know people really wanted him, but we have Develin, and as long as he comes back from his leg injury; which I’m pretty sure he will, they don’t need Glenn. Develin is the best FB in football, granted he’s one of the last FBs in football, but he’s the best at being a FB, he can also line up as a TE; which is exactly what Glenn Gronk does.

All in all, outside of the amazing Collins pick, I’m giving the Patriots a C+ at best. I know some of these guys will stick around for a while and be good depth, but year in and year out the Patriots infuriate me with their picks. Patriots fans, I know we trust in Belichick, but you gotta be slightly concerned. This is as bad as the 2009 and 2011 draft in my opinion (only like 3 players on still on the roster from both drafts combined).
