What happened to Alfonzo Dennard?
As you may remember, last offseason the New England Patriots’ secondary shed its skin. Darrelle Revis, Brandon Browner, Kyle Arrington and Alfonzo Dennard all departed New England. Three of those guys are still active in the NFL, but what happened to Dennard?
Expectations of Patriots’ third-year players
First off, let’s remember Dennard as a Patriot. His draft stock plummeted after punching a cop days before the 2012 NFL Draft, an act which eventually got Dennard in jail for five days this past December. The Patriots leapt on Dennard, originally projected as a second-rounder or thereabouts, in the seventh round.
Predicting every Patriots game of 2016
As a rookie, Dennard appeared in 10 games and made noise by intercepting three passes, bringing one back for a touchdown courtesy of Andrew Luck. Dennard suited up for 13 games in his sophomore season, recording his fourth career interception.
In 2014, however, Dennard’s playing time dipped significantly with the additions of Revis and Browner, He only broke up one pass that season, leading the Patriots to release him in the offseason.

The Arizona Cardinals scooped up Dennard off waivers, but released him early in training camp. Since then, Dennard has been out of football.
Will he ever contend for a roster spot in the NFL again? That remains to be seen. As a rookie, Dennard conjured up images of Ellis Hobbs with his small frame but big play. If he can reignite that type of play, someone will be interested.
