2004 Divisional Round – Patriots 20, Colts 3

Brady: 18 of 27, 144 yards, touchdown, no interceptions

Manning: 27 of 42, 238 yards, no touchdowns, interception

Brady continued his mastery of the Divisional Round, Manning and the playoffs in general by game-managing the Patriots to a victory over the Colts for the second straight January.

Tom Brady career history in Divisional Round

As was the case a year earlier, Brady was tossed a rope by his backfield. Clock-Killin’ Corey Dillon and Kevin Faulk combined for 200 yards on 34 carries, beating back the Colts’ defense and allowing Brady to hit nine—yes, nine—different receivers en route to the win.

Manning’s top target on the day was running back Edgerrin James, who snagged seven of 12 targets to pace the Colts with 69 yards receiving. Don’t be surprised if Manning utilizes C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman early and often against the Patriots next Sunday, just like he did with James over a decade ago.
