Patriots vs. Eagles: 6 Bold Predictions
Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports
1. Pats won’t allow touchdown
The Eagles will muster some points against the Patriots, but no touchdowns. Thanks to Jones’ three drive-killing sacks, the Eagles will be punting a bunch. To boot, the stout run defense will force the Eagles to pin their chances on Bradford’s right arm, and that provides an advantage for the Patriots.
In his first game back from the mystery illness, Collins will pluck a Bradford pass out over the middle and return it for his first career touchdown. His Defensive Player of the Year chances were hurt by missing four straight games, but Collins will remind the NFL of his superstar capabilities by weaving his way to the end zone.
In addition, Devin McCourty will register his first pick since the Jaguars game back in September. Remember, the Eagles were keen on McCourty over the offseason; he will make them wish they chucked a few more bills on the table.
Last but certainly not least, Malcolm Butler will recover after a rough outing covering Emmanuel Sanders by leaping and intercepting a deep pass intended for Matthews. Butler will have the upper hand in that matchup all day.
So there you have it. The Eagles will muster only field goals in this game, and the Patriots will re-instill fear into the rest of the NFL despite their injury bug.
