Deflategate: Tom Brady wins court case

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Tom Brady has defeated the NFL in court. His ridiculous four-game suspension has been wiped out.

In response to the news, the New England Patriots’ official twitter account tweeted out this picture of Brady without a caption. Truly, a picture speaks a thousand words.

All along, we here at Musket Fire have been writing that good sense would reign. You would expect a federal judge to know that the NFL’s case against Brady could have been mistaken for chicken droppings, and sure enough, that was proved true this morning.

Those who claim that Brady is a “cheater” and that the Patriots’ decade-and-a-half run of dominance is a result of a mastermind ball-deflating scheme no longer have any sort of valid argument. There may be another chapter to Deflategate, but the reality is that a federal court sided with Brady.

Now, the attention shifts away from this laughable offseason episode. The regular season is only a week away. After months of operating under the assumption that we would not see Brady suiting up against the Pittsburgh Steelers, we can now look forward to No. 12 starting his 14th consecutive season-opener.

Credit must be given to Steelers, who were one of the teams that wanted Brady’s suspension lifted. I can respect a team that wants to play against the best.

However, I’m afraid this is sad news for the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens, two teams that wanted Brady to stay suspended. For that matter, all the talking heads who threw dirt on the accomplishments of Brady and called sensible Patriots fans delusional might want to retract some of their previous statements.

I can see it now: the Patriots win Super Bowl 50 and Roger Goodell has to look Brady in the eye and hand him the MVP trophy.
