Weeks six got underway with an excellent game on Thursday night (finally), and I think we are in for a good weekend of more NFL football.

Here are my week six NFL predictions:

Patriots 26 Bills 16

I think this game is going to be a defensive battle, as both offenses will be struggle at times, due to the talent of the respective defenses. When the Patriots play aggressive as a defensive unit, they are one of the best groups in the NFL, specifically in the secondary, where Darrelle Revis and company lock things up as needed.

Buffalo doesn’t have nearly enough weapons to outgun Tom Brady, especially if the Pats get the running game going early, to neutralize the Bills’ pass rush. Look for New England to utilize their two tight end sets throughout the contest, especially when they get down in the red zone. Rob Gronkowski and Tim Wright once again have big games, as does running back Stevan Ridley.

Titans 20 Jaguars 17

Talk about a snooze-fest. Two of the worst teams in the NFL face off down in Tennessee, and I see the home team coming out victorious. Blake Bortles has a ton of potential, but he lacks the necessary tools around him to be successful right now. A late Jags turnover is the difference in this one.

Ravens 28 Buccaneers 20

Expect Joe Flacco to throw early and often against the 30th ranked pass defense in the league, and look for Steve Smith to have a monster game as well. Tampa has been playing very well as of late, but I don’t see Baltimore letting this one slip through their grasp. A long game-ending drive seals it for the Ravens.

Broncos 41 Jets 14

This one is going to be a blowout, and I’m not sure if this should make Pats fans happy or sad. Nevertheless, the Jets beat up secondary doesn’t stand a chance against Manning’s high-flying attack, and Manning may end up getting the fourth quarter off if things go their way. Denver will go to the air early and often, and dominate the Jets’ defensive backfield in every way imaginable. Emmanuel Sanders leads the Broncos in receiver with three touchdowns.

Lions 24 Vikings 17

With Calvin Johnson out, Detroit’s offense may struggle a bit against a decent Vikings defense, but Minnesota’s offense won’t be able to keep up with Stafford, even with all of their injuries on the offensive side of the ball. Golden Tate is going to have a big game with Johnson out, particularly down in the red zone.

Bengals 23 Panthers 20

Cincinnati isn’t going to bounce back like the Pats did from their big loss, but I do think they will get a big home win versus Carolina. The Panthers have struggled out of the gate to start the 2014 season, especially on defense, as they currently rank 20th in the league in total defense. Andy Dalton will be without A.J. Green, but if they run the ball, and don’t turn the ball over, they should be just fine.

Browns 30 Steelers 21

The Browns are coming off the biggest road comeback in NFL history, and I believe they will keep the momentum going, and get a huge win over Pittsburgh. Brian Hoyer is showing that he is an extremely capable starting quarterback in this league, winning games with a mediocre receiving corps, a bad running game, and a defense that is really underachieving. For this week, I’m taking Hoyer over Big Ben.
