The 2025 NFL Draft is now less than a month away, and the Patriots have been on the clock with the No. 4 pick since it was clear they would land in the top-5 selections. They have the fortune of being the only team not needing a quarterback that high on the board, which could make the first round very easy on draft night.
That has made them the longtime favorites for two of the best prospects of the entire incoming class, CB/WR Travis Hunter and EDGE Abdul Carter. Over the past several weeks, who they were mock-drafted to pick has alternated, but things have changed recently due to the heavy defensive focus in free agency.
Although Carter is still being mocked to the Patriots at No. 4, there has been a noticeable shift in updated mock drafts to the offense, as the new regime didn't seem to prioritize helping Drake Maye much with free-agent signings so far.
Because of that, Hunter continues to be the ongoing favorite to fall into their lap, and another offensive pillar has also slid up in the ranks.
Patriots continue to be the favorites for the offensive help they need in latest 2025 NFL mock drafts
CBS Sports: Will Campbell, T, LSU
"They have offensive line issues and Campbell can play guard or tackle. That matters to the Patriots. He may never be an All-Pro, but he will be a good, long-term starter. They could also look for receiver help here, but the value is on the line."
NFL.com: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado
"The Patriots have addressed needs on defense and at receiver in free agency, but they shouldn’t stop at Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins when it comes to adding more weapons for Drake Maye. We know Hunter can impact the game on both sides of the ball, but New England can’t pass on a chance to truly strike fear into defenses for the first time in a while by utilizing the Heisman Trophy winner as a pass catcher."
NBC Sports Boston: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado
"If the first three picks fall this way, the Patriots shouldn't have to stew on this decision for any length of time. Hunter is one of two blue-chip non-quarterbacks in the class, and he'd slot in immediately as New England's most talented pass-catcher. With the addition of free-agent corner Carlton Davis III across from Christian Gonzalez, Hunter could also take on a role as a specialty coverage player in nickel or dime situations.
For instance, the Patriots could allow him to deploy his other-worldly ball skills for a handful of snaps defensively every week while he focuses primarily on the offensive side of things. The team still needs to give Drake Maye a tackle in this scenario, but he'll be just fine with a new No. 1 wideout."
FOX Sports: Will Campbell, T, LSU
"Mike Vrabel and the Patriots' front office will be tempted to take Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter if he’s available at four. However, the Patriots can address a glaring need at left tackle with Campbell. They must build an offense around second-year quarterback Drake Maye to give him a chance to be successful. Campbell might be a tad undersized, but he doesn’t play like it. His film shows a player who’s capable of starting immediately at left tackle. His toughness and attitude will match perfectly here."
The 33rd Team: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado
"This is the scenario that Patriots fans should root for because it's highly unlikely Abdul Carter will fall out of the top three. Travis Hunter has been a cornerback first by consensus, but New England is a team where it makes sense for him to start as a wide receiver and rotate in at cornerback.
He's still a sensational wideout with athletic ability, breakaway speed, and elite body control that could quickly make him WR1 for Drake Maye."
Pro Football Network: Travis Hunter, CB/WR, Colorado
"The New England Patriots can take many different approaches here. They will ultimately take the best player, Travis Hunter, who can excel as a receiver or a corner. Drake Maye gave Patriots fans a lot of reasons to be excited after his stellar rookie season.
The team must do everything in its power to surround him with talent. They signed Stefon Diggs, and I think Diggs is the perfect veteran receiver who can teach Hunter the nuances of playing the position at a high level in the NFL."
Touchdown Wire: Will Campbell, T, LSU
"With Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter gone, the Patriots keep their eye on improving in the trenches by filling a massive need at left tackle. LSU's Will Campbell is already a talented player, but he should have added motivation from hearing endless debates regarding his arm length. Patriots quarterback Drake Maye needs a reliable blindside protector, and Campbell can be a key foundational piece for the team for years to come."
