One trouble with this era of sports media is that social media and hot takes rule the airwaves and the Web, and some takes make no sense. Even though the Patriots ruled the NFL for the better part of the 21st century, their accomplishments continue to get downplayed by those in the national media.

This time, it was Tony Romo's turn.

The lead CBS Sports analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback appeared to disrespect New England's dynasty, so to speak, when he was asked whether the Kansas City Chiefs are taking a step back after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl in February.

"They've been saying that for years. They said that about Brady and the Patriots and [Bill] Belichick. It's the same thing. You got Andy Reid, you got Mahomes, you got [Travis] Kelce. You guys are going to be fine,” Romo told Pro Football Network.

C'mon, Tony. You called a lot of Brady's games during your time as a commentator, including two Super Bowls, both of which Brady won. While there's no doubt the Chiefs have been a good team, is there a touch of jealousy in Romo's voice, given he often shrank in big moments in Dallas?

Disrespect of Patriots' dynasty is getting tiresome

Patriots' legend Julian Edelman recently quieted some haters by telling folks that there is no comparison between Brady and Aaron Rodgers. Perhaps it's time to do the same to Romo.

What the Patriots did for nearly 20 years, that's a run we'll never see in the NFL again. What Brady and Belichick did is incomparable, even though talking heads like Romo want to continue comparing Brady to what Mahomes and the Chiefs are doing. But that's the sad reality of modern-day sports media at times.

While Brady's Patriots did falter in three Super Bowls, those three losses came by a combined 15 points, and in each case, New England's defense failed to make the final stop to secure the victory. When Mahomes' Chiefs fell to Brady's Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV, Kansas City became just the third team in NFL history not to score a touchdown in the Super Bowl. Last year, Philadelphia flat-out embarrassed the Chiefs to the point where Taylor Swift exited stage left in the middle of the second half.

None of Brady's Super Bowl teams got blown off the field, nor did a pop superstar appear on the Gillette Stadium video board constantly.

There is no comparison to the Patriots' dynasty. Yes, Mahomes is a great quarterback and will be in the Hall of Fame when it's all said and done, but it's time for the likes of Romo to pump the brakes on the Patriots' disrespect.
