Wide receiver Stefon Diggs is positive about the 2025 New England Patriots, even though they've just suffered another tough loss against the Steelers. The 2025 New England Patriots have begun the 2025 season 1-2. It wasn't exactly the start of the Mike Vrabel era that either he or Patriot Nation were hoping for. Regardless, veteran wide receiver Diggs is remaining upbeat about the team.

The last thing expected from such an experienced Head Coach as Vrabel was a team that was its own worst enemy, yet that's exactly what they've been. They've committed a huge number of penalties, allowed 12 sacks, and had costly turnovers, including five in the latest gift-wrapped loss to the Steelers. It raises a question about how they lost, as well as why they did.

Some bright lights have been the play of second-year quarterback Drake Maye and veteran tight end Hunter Henry. The two rookie offensive linemen, left tackle Will Campbell and guard Jared Wilson, have also played well. Another player who's been pulling his weight after returning from a major knee injury is veteran former Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

Stefon Diggs is keeping positive after the Patriots' latest tough loss

Stefon Diggs was brought in to be the Patriots' No. 1 wide receiver. Signed as a free agent by Mike Vrabel, his health status was an issue since he was returning to the field after surgery for an ACL tear. Whether he'd be able to suit up at all early in the season was in question. Yet. Diggs' hard work got him back on the field for all of the first three games, and he's acquitted himself well.

While his stats aren't up to his past history as a Pro Bowler, they've been decent thus far. He's coming off that ACL injury, and its impact on his play can't be overestimated. Yet, despite that, he still leads all Patriots' wide receivers in both catches and yards with 13 catches for 112 yards.

Despite the Patriots gifting a game to the Steelers, Diggs isn't deterred from what the 2025 season can bring for the team.

Diggs is right. The Patriots, as poorly as they have played thus far, could easily have been 3-0 and tied with the Bills at the top of the AFC East. While they are nowhere near the Bills' levels in talent or efficiency, it's still their own mistakes that have held them back.

Stefon Diggs can help keep the Patriots on course

While the Patriots' record could be better, it is what it is. Now, they have to reset, listen to veterans like Stefon Diggs, and play clean football. Mistakes are correctable. Talent deficiencies are not. At this point, it's mistakes rather than a lack of talent that have made the difference.

Now, it's incumbent on the coaching staff to make the necessary adjustments. alterations and adaptations to take the talent they have to the next level. They have to stress fundamentals like avoiding penalties and turnovers above all now. In addition, they need to tailor the offense more to Drake Maye's ability to run as well as pass. His immense talents aren't being maximized now.

Stefon Diggs is spot on in saying the Patriots could be 3-0 at the top of the AFC East with the Bills. Whether that would be an illusion or not, you are what your record says you are. After being their own worst enemies, it's time for Mike Vrabel and his staff to correct those mistakes, make adjustments, engineer a clean game against Carolina, and win. If not, it will be a very long season.
