Throughout the offseason, there was a lot of discussion about what receiver the Patriots would sign to help Drake Maye in his second year. He didn't have the most favorable group to work with as a rookie, to say the least, yet impressed so much that it was clear the team had drafted the right guy to be their next franchise quarterback.

Surrounding him with the caliber of talent he deserved would certainly be a priority, no matter what, but it was a goal that new head coach Mike Vrabel has repeated since he was hired earlier this year. For the most part, they are yet to accomplish that, mainly on the offensive line, and there will be plenty of options to improve the group through the upcoming draft.

That explains why CB/WR Travis Hunter remains a favorite to land in their lap at the No. 4 pick, which sounds even better now that Stefon Diggs is expected to be the WR1 for Maye to work with.

The veteran, who spent the 2024 season with the Texans, was an unexpected signing by the new regime. Little had been reported about their interest in the 32-year-old, leading to his visit. However, given the dwindling group of free agent receivers left to be signed, Diggs was the best signing to make, despite coming off an ACL injury with concerns about his status for the 2025 season.

Fortunately, with the power of social media, Diggs took it upon himself to ease any lingering worries about his status.

Stefon Diggs proves he will be ready to go far sooner than expected for the Patriots in 2025

In a new video posted to his Instagram, Diggs showed his current training this offseason, working through wide receiver drills on his day off. His mobility and effectiveness were on full display, leading many to believe he will be ready to go by Week 1.

That seemed to be in the cards already, as reports have long indicated that he is far ahead in his rehabilitation compared to most people with the same injury. This likely made the Patriots more comfortable signing him for the WR1 role they desperately needed, and this video further proves they made the right decision.

It doesn't look like anything should hold him back from being ready to go as soon as possible, even if they keep him sidelined a bit during training camp and preseason. It might be the safest thing to do if they are worried about him tweaking something before the regular season begins.

But at the same time, it doesn't look like those concerns are necessarily valid, and that's a positive sign for what's to come. Diggs is clearly much further ahead in his recovery, and if his trainers and doctors are good with what kind of training he's doing, then the Patriots can feel confident about his readiness for the 2025 season.
