Can I interest you in one (1) random draft idea? I know that you've read about 15,000 random ideas in the last three months, but this one is new and that makes it different! Those 14,999 other random ideas don't matter anymore – and come to think of it, I'd argue they never did – because this one new random idea has arrived. This is the one that'll really stick with you. And if it doesn't, don't worry – by the time you're reading this, there will be a sexy NEW random idea ready for you. Content truly is the gift that keeps on giving.

On today's episode of One Draft Idea Someone On The Internet Had, we turn to Sports Illustrated, where they mocked up a whole bunch of first round draft trades that would shake up Thursday night. Since you really only care about the Patriots' trade, I'll get right to it: SI thinks the Pats will SHOCK* (/mildly get the attention of) the WORLD by trading down four whole spots on Thursday night. Then, with the 8th pick, they go get Drake Maye a wide receiver who isn't 45 years old.

Sports Illustrated thinks the Pats should trade down for Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan

The deal: Panthers trade No. 8 (406), No. 74 (64) and No. 111 (29) to Patriots for No. 4 (491), No. 217 (3) and No. 220 (3)

"New England added Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins in free agency, but the receiver room is a bit light. After sliding back four spots with the Panthers, general manager Eliot Wolf acquires a pair of additional top-120 picks and still gets the draft’s top receiver in McMillan. At 6'5", McMillan would prove a big target for second-year quarterback Drake Maye, who holds the keys to New England’s short- and long-term prospects."

I mean, sure. Whatever. You wouldn't catch me passing on Abdul Carter, but that's neither here nor there. Any time you can pass on one of the class's truly elite prospects for a wide receiver that a lot of draft analysts have potentially falling towards the end – or even out of – the first round, it's a slam dunk. The Patriots desperately need wide receivers, though, so I guess in theory it makes sense. Plus, all the best ideas only make sense in theory. That's the fun thing about random ideas on the internet: they don't really matter!
