Three dream scenarios for the New England Patriots in the 2023 season
2. Mac Jones quickly rebounds in Bill O'Brien's more efficient offense

This might be the biggest dream of them all. It would be awesome to see Mac Jones find immediate success in the new offense being installed and run by Bill O'Brien, a former OC and HC at the NFL level with the Patriots and Houston Texans.

This is beyond the most ideal scenario for Mac Jones, who showed elite promise as a rookie in 2021, and he showed so much promise in fact that many thought Jones would breakout in 2022. His efficiency as a passer in year one was setting the stage for year two.

Matt Patricia unfortunately was a big road block in that happening, though. With an established offensive mind in the building, the offense should be better, and I think to help start that process, O'Brien won't ask Jones to do a ton within the offense.

However, what if he doesn't ask Jones to do a lot initially, but Jones quickly proves that he can handle more? Imagine the relief across the organization if Mac Jones can slowly and surely take more responsibility as a passer and sort of own the offense like many of the top QBs in the NFL do.

This would be a huge sign of relief and ideally, Jones plays so well that he shuts the door on any speculation that he isn't the long-term answer. Taking this a step further would be the partnership between Jones and BoB can last for years to come.
