This offseason, the Patriots offense has taken positive strides. Under the direction of new offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien and with new addition Ezekiel Elliott, the Patriots have put themselves in a position to be a dangerous offense. In the Preseason, the Patriots have shown flashes of how good their offense can be. Ultimately, I think the Patriots have a chance to be a top-10 offense in 2023.

Now, I’m not saying definitively that the Patriot's offense will be top 10 in 2023 because there are question marks, but they do have a chance. The biggest question mark that will decide the fate of the offense is the offensive line. So far in the preseason, it feels like every time the offense makes strides, the offensive line allowed Mac Jones to get lit up. This happened in the game against the Green Bay Packers as Jones took some big hits, including when he fumbled.

If the offensive line is unable to hold up this season, there is a chance Jones gets hurt again, and the offense is not much better than a year ago. I don’t think that will happen and as a result, the Patriots will surprise teams with their new offensive attack. O’Brien already has the Patriots utilizing RPO’s and he is using Kendrick Bourne, which is a delight to see for Patriots fans.

More often than not, teams are able to have great years when implementing new schemes because teams don’t have much tape on them. There are many examples of teams having good offenses under a new system like the Philadelphia Eagles last year or even the Minnesota Vikings. If the Patriots offense finds its groove early, they can be a top 10 offense.

Ultimately, it will be interesting to where the Patriots offense finishes in 2023.
